Meet MarShield at DIET 2026 and G4SR6 for Next-Gen Nuclear Shielding

Canada’s nuclear sector is moving fast. Small modular reactors are advancing from concept to deployment, next-generation designs are gaining traction, and regulators are under pressure to keep up. These new technologies also mean higher stakes for radiation protection. That’s why MarShield will be in Niagara Falls this October.

This year the Canadian Nuclear Society is running two of its flagship events side by side at the Marriott on the Falls.

DIET 2026 (Disruptive, Innovative & Emerging Technologies in Nuclear) runs October 7–9 under the theme “Inspiring Disruptive Innovation,” organized in cooperation with the IAEA and EPRI.

G4SR6, the 6th International Conference on Generation IV and Small Reactors, runs October 4–8 and is Canada’s premier SMR and next-generation reactor technology conference.

Together, they bring utilities, regulators, researchers, suppliers, and government decision-makers into one room for a full week. Raj Singh, Business Development Executive, is excited to represent MarShield at both events and discuss the importance of compliant, thorough radiation shielding.

New Reactor Designs Mean New Shielding Challenges

New reactor designs bring new shielding problems. SMRs and Gen IV technologies introduce different footprints, fuel cycles, waste streams, and maintenance profiles. Shielding that was specified for a legacy facility won’t necessarily fit these environments.

Designers and operators need radiation shielding that is engineered for the facility they’re actually building; it has to meet safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Proven Shielding for Canada’s Next-Generation Reactors

For more than 45 years, MarShield has supplied gamma and neutron shielding to the North American nuclear energy market. Our nuclear energy radiation shielding portfolio supports both new construction and ongoing operations and maintenance:

MarShield is ISO 9001:2015 certified and CWB-accredited to CSA N299.3-16 for supplying shielding to nuclear plants in Canada. Every solution comes with the documentation your audits and licensing reviews demand.

Talk Shielding Before Your Designs Are Final

Raj will be on site throughout the week, ready to discuss your project. You might be planning an SMR deployment, upgrading an existing facility, or specifying shielding for a new research program. Wherever you are in that process, it pays to talk to a shielding partner early, before designs are locked in and options narrow.

MarShield doesn’t hand over a product and walk away. From consultation and design through installation, inspection, and ongoing support, we stay with your facility for its full lifecycle.
